Challenge
In the recent past, the Jordan Public Security Directorate has been beset on nearly all sides by conflicts and has had to deal with their impact: terrorism, refugees, and crime. Though the PSD staff grew to 50,000 personnel, the challenges outpaced their staff’s ability to address them. Without employing world leading technology to help ensure safety, they simply could not keep up.
Solution
Working with outside global experts, the PSD evaluated best of breed technology for each critical solution to deploy in its command center headquarters. Of particular interest was finding a platform their staff could use to easily and collaboratively manage any incident, while also scaling to integrate the many technologies coming online — body cameras, a license plate recognition (LPR) system, a ballooning number of video cameras, and multiple video management systems (VMS) deployed throughout the country. They chose Activu’s software-based solution to monitor critical operations, connecting the right teams and subject matter experts in the command center and other locations, thus improving incident response and decision making.
Result
The PSD has used Activu for almost a decade to dynamically assemble a common operating picture and manage any incident, anywhere, within the command center and beyond. For every type of incident, users readily see and share any source – complete video and audio from a body camera on the scene, for example — in real time, across displays, rooms, and locations. The PSD was recognized by the World Economic Forum as one of the most reliable and effective public safety organizations in the Gulf Region, a remarkable record, especially for one in the middle of the Middle East.
