The vis|ability platform enables users to communicate, control, and display critical visual information automatically throughout an organization, to control room video walls, operator desktops, conference and meeting room displays, and mobile users.
Even with sophisticated visualization tools like the vis|ability platform and large scale video walls, many organizations gather and manage such enormous volumes of data, that continuously monitoring all relevant information is simply not possible. Control room operators are often challenged to recognize developing incidents, such as events that might arise from information presented by multiple independent software applications or infrequently enough to be ignored. This challenge cre- ates less efficient operations and the potential to miss critical events, causing operational disruption and poor decision-making.
To answer this challenge, Activu has developed vis|ability Link : software middle-ware that tightly integrates the vis|ability platform to customer information systems, prioritizing and automating the visualization of events, guaranteeing operator recognition and enabling more efficient responses to potential threats to operations. For example, a traffic center or police agency could automatically display a set of camera feeds in response to an anomalous traffic event from a traffic data service like Waze.
Vis|ability Link provides the tools to configure visualization in response to virtually any type of event. Link processes information from one or more of a customer's software applications, such as Riverbed®, ServiceNow®, or OSIsoft's PI System™, and then uses that information to determine when, where, and to whom, to send relevant visual information.
Link is designed as an open and extensible software tool that consumes high-priority events (alerts) from third party applications and delivers contextually-relevant information to those who need to see it, anywhere in an organization
The uses of Link can be as varied as the industries Activu serves. Electric utilities, security operations, intelligent transportation, emergency operations, military, and defense all benefit from the ability to create automated visualization of critical events, ensuring operational staff know what is important, automatically.
Critical incidents logged via ServiceNow data can be used to drive video wall content, prioritizing the most critical incidents into the most visible positions, associating relevant related data, and displaying that collected information on one or more displays, dynamically.
Vis|ability Link makes it possible to alert users directly of the age, transition, and criticality of the incident, real-time, in each user's environment—mobile devices, desktops, and on a shared video wall in the NOC or other control room.
OSIsoft PI event frames—that monitor critical infrastructure in an electrical transmission, generation, or distribution control center—can be used to automate visualization of critical events in vis|ability, such as major outages, capacity coming offline or online, or system faults that are critical in nature.
The Link system responds to these events by bringing all relevant information to the attention of the right operators and any other designated users in the system. Configured to match operational needs, information automatically displayed by Link can include nearly anything that is relevant and available on the network: streaming IP camera videos of the affected equipment, OSIsoft PI charts showing real-time and historical data, relevant documents that illustrate known response procedures, social media monitoring data, and weather monitoring data.
Traffic management centers can be automatically alerted to nascent, anomalous traffic events through data sources such as Waze, Here, or an ATMS. Relevant map-based data such as real-time traffic, location of road-based assets (tow trucks, police, fire), social media, and local traffic camera feeds can all be displayed automatically, allowing for quick deployment of resources and a timely resolution.
