The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six Intelligent Transportation Systems Program recently completed a retrofit of the Transportation Management Center’s (TMC’s) control room, including its well-known video wall, to bring it up-to-date with current technology.

The project’s goal was to overhaul to existing control room and allow FDOT and its partners to enhance operation while also providing flexibility for future growth. The focus was on upgrading the control room’s technology and usability in order to improve the efficiency of operators and management staff as they overs District Six’ roadways.

For the project, Activu assisted District Six with the enlargement of the center’s well-known video wall. By the conclusion of the control room retrofit, Activu had rebuilt the TMC’s video wall to include seven more video cubes, making it significantly larger than the original wall. The entire retrofit can be viewed in a time-lapse video done by FDOT.
