The customer, NJ Transit, was undergoing a digital transformation. With more than 900,000 passenger trips occurring daily, they needed a system that allowed them to easily see critical information relating their multi-modal transit system of bus, light rail and commuter operations. Even more importantly, when an alarm condition or system failure occurred they needed to be able to respond quickly, resolve the issue and minimize service disruptions.
With the need to see, share and respond to critical events in real-time, NJ Transit chose Activu to help them monitor critical operations and infrastructure and improve incident response and decision-making.
Once Activu systems were installed in their rail operations center, bus command center and emergency operations center, NJ Transit achieved a complete view of their operations, allowing them to more efficiently transport passengers during normal or alarm conditions. Activu’s software is fully integrated with NJ Transit’s monitoring systems, including their SCADA, rail sensor technology and surveillance camera systems, so that operators can easily access and share critical information whether they are in the main operations center or another location. When an alarm condition occurs, they can easily identify problems, resolve issues and return service to normal operations.
